๐ ๐ฃ Water Innovation Festival 2026 took place at the Wetsus European research center in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.
16.09.2026 more than 200 professionals gathered there to participate in educational sessions, tours, and the 2026 Water Innovation Award ceremony.
๐๐บ๏ธ The choice of the site is no coincidence. This research institute as well as Leeuwarden WaterCampus, specialize in sustainable water treatment technologies โ aligns perfectly with the water sector’s drive for innovation.
This yearโs theme was “The Innovative Employee.” Considerable attention was paid to the skills, structures, and spaces required for employees to experiment and innovate within the water sector.
๐ The winners of the Water Innovation Prize 2026 were announced during the festival. Out of 42 applications, three awards were presented to:
– Wastewater Treatment of the Future (STOWA): creating a new generation of climate- and energy-neutral WWTPs;
– Shoreline: an innovative dike reinforcement method used in the IJsselmeer dike reinforcement project;
– Toilet Paper Recycling: a circular solution in the water sector.
